60. Hellraiser V: Inferno

60. Hellraiser V: Inferno

Rotten Tomatoes: NA   IMDB: 5.4

Plot: A detective opens up the puzzle box and is drawn into a murder mystery looking for the "Engineer"

My Thoughts: The most different of the Hellraiser films so far. This one plays out like a bizarre murder mystery as the detective tries to unravel the brutal killings surrounding him. The Cenobites appear in the background and in hallucinations until the end and even then the answers are not quite clear. This movie is an absolute mess, but there are some good points. I enjoy the acting from the main character, I also think that it was time to change up the formula of the Hellraiser franchise. There are things that don't work but all in all not a bad entry into the Hellraiser canon.

10. Warm Bodies Plot: Zombie meets girl and falls in love. My thoughts: Romero and Juliet. I have to admit I really liked this movie, it got genuine laughs from me which is not something most comedies do any more, some of the cgi effects were a bit meh but the acting and the story were solid and allowed me to overlook creature effects. I recommend this one, it's a romantic comedy with braainnnnsssss.

Purple People Eater (1988) IMDB: 4.5 A long time ago in a department store far, far away a six year old me was browsing through the display of Halloween titles on video tape the store had set up, and there amongst the Jasons and Freddies was a movie based on a song starring TV's Doogie Howser, I walked out of that store without purchasing this film a mistake that has hung over my life for decades, a mistake that thanks to the glory that is youtube has now been rectified. Dear readers I give to you Purple People Eater starring Ned Beatty, Shelley Winters, Neil Patrick Harris, Dustin Diamonds, Thora Birch and Sheb Wooley. Billy Winters (Neil Patrick Harris) has been left at home with his older sister whom we never see again and his younger sister Molly (Thora Birch) in the care of their Grandpa (Ned Beatty). Grandpa enlists Billy's help repainting his apartment, planting flowers and laughing...laughing at everything no matter how funny it may or may not be in that bi...

4. Lords of Salem Plot: Directed by Rob Zombie and starring Sherri Moon Zombie the movie takes place in modern day Salem where Sherri Moon Zombie plays Heidi a local DJ at a rock station. She receives an album by a band called "The Lords" that when played on air has a strange trance like effect on the women in town. Things get weird as "The Lords" plan a show in Salem. My thoughts: This is a strange one. Of all of Rob Zombie's films this is the one I am most on the fence about. I liked House of 1000 corpses, I loved Devil's Rejects, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto is easily one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile and then there are his awful Halloween remakes which I despise so where does this one fall? I really don't know. I thought it was well made, this is a beautifully shot film. The violence is tame and the colors are brilliant. Sherri Moon Zombie gives a complex and believable performance as Heidi. There are definite n...
